Feeding 5,000 was started in May of 2008, after two friends took notice of theamount of homeless people they came across during an afternoon walk through Center City. wanting to help, the two bought as many sandwiches as they could with the money they had on them, and then distributed them to those less fortunate.
Week after week, the friends returned to feed the homeless, and each week the number of meals increased. What began as a random act of kindness, has since grown into a ministry that provides over 150 well-balanced meals a week.
In addition to serving meals; clothing, blankets, coats and other basic necessities are also delivered, along with love, compassion, hope and the power of God's word in prayers, Daily Breads and Bibles.
Due to the amount of volunteers who have joined us from various organizations, we are also able to serve those in need in Camden and Burlington counties. This could not be done without the help of people like you.
Many of the homeless who have shared their stories with us are veterans who have once served for our freedom. There are also some who are battling mental health and or addiction issues, some who have endured years of abuse, and some who have just fallen on hard times, but all of them are hurting and in need of your help.
Matthew 25: 35-36
35 For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat,
I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink,
I was a stranger and you invited me in,
36 I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me,
I was in prison and you came to visit me
